Ever since the premiere of Campaign 4, new Dungeon Master Brennan Lee Mulligan has kept fans guessing with rich lore, a wide array of personalities, and a gripping narrative including celestial beings, demons, and malevolent powers growing in power within the urban setting.
Note: Key plot points for the third episode of this adventure are included.
The Soldiers Table Revealed
The third episode concluded with a huge suspense moment and introduced the first table of heroes who will split off from the primary party to undertake their own adventure, apart from the other two tables.
The Soldiers table includes Teor (brought to life by Travis Willingham), the nimble rogue (the talented performer), the strong-willed figure (the cast member), Wicander Halovar (Sam), and Kattigan (Robbie Daymond).
Why Split the Party?
With a large ensemble, it was evident from the beginning that keeping everyone at the same party would be unfeasible.
That’s why, the initial installments of the new season serve as an Overture, connecting the personal journeys before dividing into three distinct groups: Soldiers, Schemers, and Explorers.
What Defines the Soldiers Table
Per the DM, the Soldiers table is for participants who prefer a traditionally charged combat and conflict-driven gameplay experience where diplomatic options are few and far between.
Initially, characters like the hesitant healer Wicander Halovar might seem out of place, but the actions of the third episode show why these particular heroes are ideally matched for the Soldiers table.
Why They Must Go
First, the group understands precisely where to head next after a intense initial meeting with The Crow Keepers.
A former ally of the deceased character—whose passing initiated the narrative’s action—exploited the foes for his selfish purposes, entering the secret base, attacking the rogue, and swiping all the enchanted items to auction.
The traitor then settled his liabilities and escaped to a fortified location in Gormalay, Timmony, beyond the city, with Cyd Pridesire pursuing him.
Individual Reasons
Secondly, each member has a individual motive to exit the urban setting:
- The rogue, as the close ally and best friend, wants vengeance.
- The knowledgeable figure is familiar with the region and advises that it is a dangerous location.
- The warrior and Wicander, having disobeyed his house’s orders to execute Teor and instead rescued him, have nowhere else to go.
- However, their status as prominent individuals in the powerful family could enable the team reach areas they normally couldn’t.
- Moreover, The grateful character pledged a unbreakable promise to Wicander for his rescue and will now accompany him anywhere.
Wanted and Hunted
In addition, all of them are hunted by the authorities that rule Dol-Makjar for a variety of reasons, making remaining behind no longer safe:
- The rogue and Kattigan are recognized lawbreakers.
- Tyranny and The cleric betrayed House Halovar and the army of fiends they are partnered with.
- Teor is targeted for elimination by the family.
This leaves them little choice but to head to the remote area in quest for Casimir.
What’s Next?
According to the latest episode’s post-show segment, we find out that the Soldiers table will be absent the following episode, leaving the rest of the participants to round up the Explorers and Schemers tables.
Fans can look forward to learning which characters will be assigned to which table in Campaign 4’s last Overture episode, released on the upcoming Thursday.
